Elections in Ukraine are the only option as the country's president is said to have left the capital, opposition leader Vitali Klitschko said today.
"Today he left the capital," Klitschko told an emergency session of parliament, which was debating an opposition motion calling on Yanukovich to resign. "Millions of Ukrainians see only one choice - early presidential and parliamentary elections."
Ukraine's interim President has expressed concerns about signs of separatism as opposition in Russian-speaking regions grows.
Hundreds of Ukrainians and journalists flocked to the presidential palace, as reports emerged that President Yanukovich had left the city.
Vitali Klitschko was met with boos from anti-government protesters, as he attempted to convince them a peace deal is best course of action.
