French football club appoint female manager

A French football club has announced that a woman is set to become their new manager - marking the first time a female coach has been put in charge of a men's team in France.

Portuguese manager Helena Costa, 36, was most recently the coach of Iran's women's team and has previously worked for both Benfica and Celtic.

Clermont Foot 63, who are in the French second division, said in a statement that her appointment would "help the club enter a new era".
