Memorial service held for IS victim Steven Sotloff

Nearly 1,000 mourners including relatives, friends and politicians, have attended a memorial service in Florida for US journalist Steven Sotloff, who was killed by IS militants.

The Islamic State released a video on Tuesday showing the murder of Mr Sotloff.

He is the second American journalist to be beheaded in two weeks over the group's confrontation with the US over air strikes in Iraq and its foreign policy.

Footage of James Foley being beheaded on August 19 shocked the world.

British Muslims condemn IS as 'real enemies of Islam'

A new video shows young British Muslims condemning the Islamic State murders of US journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley.

The YouTube clip was posted by the Active Change Foundation - a group that works with communities and young people deemed at risk of being drawn into violent extremism.

One of the young men in the video described the Islamic State as "the real enemies of Islam", adding: "If they’re about to kill another British citizen, I think we all need to go out and get the word out there that this is not from Islam, it’s not anything to do with us.”

Another said the widespread coverage of the militant group's violent actions "led others to paint us with that brush".

The clip follows the release of another video in which a number of senior Imams and scholars from Britain's Muslim communities rejected IS as "vigilantes".
