Cameron calls on EU to double Ebola funding

David Cameron has called for EU leaders to double their funding in the fight against Ebola to £800 million.

It comes after one of the doctors who discovered the virus, Professor Peter Piot, said the rest of Europe was not doing enough to tackle the epidemic.

Downing Street said the current total contribution from the EU was just £400 million.

Hunt: UK likely to face 'handful' of Ebola cases in coming months

The Chief Medical Officer has warned that the UK may face a "handful" of Ebola cases in the next three months, Jeremy Hunt has said.

He said that while it was difficult to estimate, the government was not anticipating the number to reach double figures during that period.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the Health Secretary said Britain was "among the best and most prepared" countries to tackle the virus but warned: "The situation will get worse before it gets better."
