Brothers call on Egypt to deport Al Jazeera journalist after retrial granted

The brothers of Al Jazeera journalist Peter Greste have called on the Egypt president to deport him after he and two other journalists were granted a retrial.

Greste, along with two other Al Jazeera journalists Canadian-Egyptian Mohamed Fahmy and Egyptian Baher Mohamed, had their sentences for allegedly spreading false news cancelled but must remain in prison in Egypt before the retrial.

Three journalists working for Al Jazeera are expected to remain in jail until they appear before a new court for a retrial, a defence lawyer said.

"They will not be released until they appear before the new chamber, which will decide whether to release them or not," said defence attorney Mostafa Nagy.
