Government counter-extremism plans revealed in leaked papers

The Government should be "more assertive" in challenging extremism, a leaked Home Office document reportedly warns.

The as-yet unpublished counter-extremism strategy includes calls for a review into the operation of Sharia courts, a ban on radicals working unsupervised with young children and changes to rules granting citizenship to ensure people embrace "British values", the Sunday Telegraph reports.

Home Office preparing measures to tackle extremism

The Home Office is preparing a series of measures to tackle the spread of extremism, it has been revealed today.

In a leaked copy of the as-yet unpublished counter-extremism strategy details of plans to bring into place requirements for immigrants to "commit to British values" or face financial penalties, and to place a ban on extremists working with children without supervision, have been outlined.
