Zayn Malik expected at annual Asian Awards event

Zayn Malik is expected to make his first solo appearance since quitting 'One Direction' at the annual Asian Awards event in London this evening.

The 22-year-old singer, who announced last month he was leaving the boyband to live a "normal life", will walk the red carpet at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

DJ Naughty Boy - real name Shahid Khan - is also attending the event and he and Malik are rumoured to be making an announcement about Malik's first solo music venture.

Shortly after Malik quit One Direction, Naughty Boy posted online a demo of song 'I Won't Mind', featuring Malik's vocals, but he deleted it 12 hours later.
