Lille ordered to pay €300,000 for Liverpool striker

Ligue 1 side Lille have been ordered to pay Genk €300,000 for Belgian striker Dirick Origi.

The Liverpool player moved to the French team from Genk in 2010 at the age of 15.

Genk appealed to Fifa over the deal, claiming they deserved compensation, but were denied this as they had not offered Origi a contract prior to his departure.

Genk, though, successfully argued to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that they could not offer Origi a contract under Belgian law because he was under the age of 16 at the time.

A CAS statement read: "The arbitration body has calculated the amount of the training compensation due and has ordered the payment of €300,000 (£215,000) from LOSC Lille Metropole to KRC Genk."
