Lord Sewel will not face charges after footage emerged of him allegedly taking cocaine with two prostitutes.

The peer resigned from the House of Lords after the story was published in the Sun on Sunday.

But the Metropolitan Police said there was "insufficient evidence" to proceed with its investigation into the claims.

A statement from Scotland Yard said: "Following a review of all the material, including a forensic examination of an address in central London, the matter is now closed."
