Video report by ITV News Reporter Rebecca Barry

A boy was stabbed to death at school during his lunchbreak, witnesses have told ITV News.

The 16-year-old, named locally as Bailey Gwynne, is said to have been attacked in the snack bar area of Cults Academy in Aberdeen.

One witness said he saw the boy lying on the ground "covered in blood".

Teachers tried to put pressure on the wound, believed to be on the right side of his stomach, but there was "so much blood", the witness added.

Pupils at the school, which will be closed for two days while police carry out their investigation, have been offered counselling in the wake of the tragedy.
