Nearly 10,000 Brits flown home from Sharm el-Sheikh

Nearly 10,000 people have been flown back to the UK from Sharm el-Sheikh following the Russian jet crash.

The Department for Transport said more than 9,600 had been brought home since Friday.

Around 20,000 Britons were at the Egyptian resort when flights were suspended over security fears.

'Good to be home': Sharm tourists celebrate being back in UK

Passengers cheered and clapped as they landed back on UK soil on the first 'rescue' flight from Sharm el-Sheikh.

Video given to ITV News shows people on plane - the first return flight from the Egyptian resort in almost two days - celebrating as they touched ground at London Gatwick.

Thousands more British tourists are still stranded in Sharm, with only eight flights given permission to depart due to the airport's limited capacity.
