Authorities investigating cause of huge fire at Dubai hotel

Dubai authorities are investigating the cause of a huge fire that broke out at a hotel in the city's downtown district ahead of the emirate's New Year celebrations.

Only minor injuries were reported after the blaze at the 63-storey Address Downtown hotel, close to the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa.

Major fire at hotel tower block near Dubai's Burj Khalifa

A major fire has broken out in a tower block in central Dubai, close to the world's tallest skyscraper the Burj Khalifa.

According to the Government of Dubai the building is The Address Downtown hotel.

Local newspaper the Khaleej Times reported that the fire broke out as people were gathering in Downtown Dubai for a large fireworks display to kick off the city's New Year's Eve celebrations.
