IS claims responsibilty for Jakarta bomb attacks

So-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a series of co-ordinated bomb and gun attacks on the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

Large explosions rocked the city before more than two hours of gunfire ensued as police exchanged fire with the attackers.

Seven people, including five perpetrators, were killed, authorities said.

Photographs from the scene showed bodies lying in the street.

So-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the Jakarta attacks, which were "targeting foreign nationals and security forces".

The announcement was made on an IS-allied news agency.

The police chief in the Indonesian capital has also said the group is "definitely" behind the attack.
