'Five drivers a day' were caught speeding at more than 100mph in the space of just one year, police have confirmed.

The figures, obtained from a Freedom of Information request submitted by BBC Radio 5 Live, show that in 2014-15 at total of least 2,169 traffic reports involving motorists travelling at more than 100mph were filed by police.

The fastest speed recorded was by a driver in a BMW M4 Coupe doing 156mph - more than double the speed limit - on the A1 in Cambridgeshire in March.
