Impeachment of Brazilian president Rousseff suspended

Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff has confirmed her impeachment process has been suspended after an appeal was accepted.

She spoke after the acting speaker of Brazil's lower house of Congress annulled the process citing procedural flaws.

Waldir Maranhao said the senate must return the process to the lower house for a new vote.

Ms Rousseff, who has faced action to remove her from office over claims she covered up a financial scandal, said she was unaware of the consequences of the suspension.
