Crashed Egyptair plane's black boxes 'extensively damaged'

Search teams have retrieved the cockpit voice and flight data recorders from the EgyptAir plane which crashed into the Mediterranean in May, killing all 66 on board.

It is hoped analysis of the black boxes will shed light on why the plane crashed en route from Paris to Alexandria.

At present no militant group has claimed responsibility for bringing down the aircraft.

Hollande confirms EgyptAir flight MS804 crashed

Missing EgyptAir flight MS804 crashed, French President Francois Hollande has told a press conference.

He said all information suggested the plane had crashed but it was too early to speculate on the cause of the incident

"Unfortunately the information we have...confirms to us that the plane came down and is lost," Hollande said. "No hypothesis can be ruled out, nor can any be favoured over another."
