At least 7,000 people rescued as flooding hits Louisiana

At least 7,000 people have been rescued from widespread flooding in the southern US state of Louisiana, the state governor has said.

Three people have already been confirmed dead in the floods.

An aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans had to perform an airlift to rescue three people stranded on a rooftop in Baton Rouge, while hundreds of motorists had to be pulled from their cars by emergency services after 125 vehicles were stranded in high water on a stretch of motorway.
