Yvette Cooper: Corbyn needs to show deeds not words

Yvette Cooper has said Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn need to "show different ways of working" if he is to unite the party, as she called on his team to show "deeds not words".

Speaking on Peston on Sunday, the former Shadow Home Secretary said: "I think the thing that Jeremy needs to do in order to pull the whole party together is to show different ways of working, for example to have shadow cabinet elections that would allow a lot of people to come forward and to stand.

"But also some other things that he and John (McDonnell) need to do to show through deeds not words that actually they want to take the lead in drawing the whole party together and... making sure we can win back votes in marginal seats that we need."
