Championship club Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Mark Warburton as first-team manager on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Gary Brazil was due to be in charge until the end of the current campaign, but recent results have left Forest perilously close to the relegation zone, prompting the move to be brought forward.

The club website also confirmed David Weir would be joining Warburton as his assistant, with the duo set to be in the dugout against Derby County on Saturday—who have also just named a new manager in Gary Rowett.

Warburton was previously in charge of Brentford, taking them from League One to the Championship play-offs, and more recently Rangers, leaving the Scottish club only last month.
