Wycombe have rejected an approach from an unnamed Championship club to speak to manager Gareth Ainsworth about their managerial vacancy.
Although League Two Wanderers have not revealed the identity of the club, Barnsley are currently the only second-tier side without a manager following Paul Heckingbottom's departure to Leeds.
Ainsworth has been in charge at Adams Park since 2012 and has guided the promotion-chasing Chairboys to third in the table this campaign.
Wycombe sporting director Andrew Howard said the Buckinghamshire club were keen to retain Ainsworth's services.
"Gareth is under contract with us and continues to do an outstanding job, and therefore we are fully focused on continuing the progress we are making with him in charge," Howard told the club's official website.
