Andy Murray has been knocked out of the Shenzhen Open at the quarter-final stage after a straight-sets defeat to Fernando Verdasco.

Murray, who recorded a promising win over top seed David Goffin in the last 16, was broken three times as he fell 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 40 minutes.

Murray is set to move on to next week's China Open before curtailing his season to focus on fully recovering from his recent hip injury.
