Police investigating the murder of 53-year-old Mark Ponisi in east Belfast are keen to speak to a taxi driver who may have vital information in the case.
The victim’s body was found in the living room of a property in the London Road area off Ravenhill Avenue at around 10am on Saturday. He had a number of injuries to his head and face.
A 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder are still being questioned.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Montgomery said: “We are keen to speak to the driver of a taxi believed to have picked up three males and one female in Belfast city centre at around 2am on the morning of the murder, and dropped them in the London Road.
“We believe this taxi driver may have information that could prove vital to our investigation and would appeal directly to him to contact the investigation team at Musgrave Street by calling 101 and asking for extension 17712.
“We would also renew our appeal to anyone with information about the this brutal crime to contact the incident room at Musgrave Police Station.”
