With less than a week to go before the Pope’s visit, members of a Warrenpoint youth choir are tuning up for the event of their lives.

Mary Queen of Peace Junior Choir will sing alongside thousands of others at the papal mass this weekend.

The event at Phoenix Park will be watched by millions of people, in the presence of Pope Francis.

“We’re going to be the youngest choir there, so I’m a wee bit nervous,” Kara Duffy told UTV.

For Gerry McGovern it's a poignant moment.

He has vivid memories of seeing Pope John Paul II in 1979 and now his granddaughters are preparing to do the same.

“All you could see was a sea of flags and bunting,” he said.

“It was great to be alive, it was great to witness that and when he held out his hands and used those famous words ‘young people of Ireland I love you’, I can hear that yet.”

With the final rehearsals over, it's time to hit the high notes on a day these girls will remember for the rest of their lives.
