Police searching for a device reportedly left in the Old Golf Course Road area of west Belfast are advising that road closures will remain in place until further notice.
The Old Golf Course Road and Creightons Road have been closed all day on Saturday while officers carry out the search operation to determine the location of any item.
Chief Inspector Helen Garrett said: "Diversions are in place and I am appealing to the public to follow the diversions and the direction of our officers as we work to make the area safe.
“I understand the impact the closure of these roads will continue to have, especially at this time of the year, and I want to thank drivers and local residents for their patience.
"However, the safety of the community is of paramount importance and we will not take any risks.
“Earlier, I issued an appeal to the public that anyone travelling through the area should be mindful of their own personal safety. That advice still stands this evening.
“If you come across anything suspicious, call us immediately on 101.
"Anyone with information about this incident, or who saw any suspicious activity in the area in recent days, is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 838 of 07/12/18."
