A woman living rough on the streets of Belfast has spoken of the moment she tried to revive her friend as he lay lifeless in the doorway of a shop.
The victim - known only as Robbie - was found dead in High Street early on Friday.
"I tried, I tried ... I tried to press pressure points, everything ... nothing, then the police took over,” Shiela Forgane told UTV.
“It was a big shock, I'm still shaking from head to toe.
“It's not nice, Robbie was a nice guy and I want to tell his family I'm so sorry for their loss.”
The death has sent shockwaves through the local community.
It comes just days after it was revealed that homeless people are 20 times more likely to die from drug abuse in Northern Ireland.
The cause of this latest death is not known.
Police said a post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish that, and said enquiries are at an early stage.
