A 15-year-old boy has been charged over a robbery at a Londonderry shop said to have been carried out by a teenager armed with a butcher knife.

The incident happened in the Blutcher Street area of the city just after 10.20am on Sunday.

The culprit demanded money from the till before making off with it, leaving a member of staff shaken by the ordeal.

The teenage suspect has been charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He has also been charged with burglary, following a separate incident in the Bond’s Hill area.

The boy is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
