Damage caused by arson attack on Bushmills pub

Two men are reported to have smashed a window of a Bushmills pub and poured flammable liquid inside during an overnight arson attack.

The incident resulted in a fire at the Scotch House on Main Street in the Co Antrim village shortly after 3am on Monday.

The area had to be closed to traffic for a time, but has since re-opened.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Rachel Gardiner said: “Damage was caused to an alcove inside the bar as a result of the incident.

“ATO were tasked to the scene this morning as a precaution.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101.

In a separate incident, damage has been caused to a pub in Armagh in a fire which is still being investigated.
