Man breaks leg jumping from window to escape attackers

A man has broken his leg jumping from the window of a flat in Larne, after masked men armed with bats and iron bars broke in and assaulted him.

The incident happened in the Ballycraigy Ring area shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday.

Up to six men are said to have been involved.

Police say a car parked outside the property was also attacked by the men and extensively damaged.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Leighanne Robinson said: “A 34-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody assisting us with our enquiries.”

She added: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives in Larne on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
