Police have attended what was described as an “incident” in the Lisburn Road area of south Belfast.

There was a substantial police presence near City Hospital on Sunday morning.

A car at the centre of the investigation was covered by a forensic tent for a time, before it was removed and the vehicle taken away.

The Belfast Trust confirmed the incident had happened on its grounds close to the Lisburn Road, but said there was no disruption to the hospital.

Part of Dunluce Avenue was also cordoned off at the same time, as well as an alleyway close to the junction of Lisburn Road and Lower Cresent.

It is not known if there was any connection between all three incidents.

In a statement the PSNI said: "Police are currently at the scene of an ongoing incident in the Lisburn Road, Belfast.

"There are no further details at this stage."
