Security alerts across Londonderry have been causing disruption on Easter Sunday, with roads closed and homes evacuated.

A number of controlled explosions have been carried out by bomb disposal experts.

Suspicious objects at the centre of alerts in the Iniscarn Road and Harty Court areas have been declared “non-viable devices” and removed for further examination.

An alert at Moss Park has also ended and a number of items have been removed from a house in the area for examination.

A car at the centre of the alert on the Strand Road was examined but nothing untoward was found.

Detectives say they are treating the alerts as “a criminal incident, not a terrorist related incident”.
