The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has paid tribute to one of its firefighters who died in a recent road traffic collision.
Crew Commander David Brown was killed in a crash while off duty on Friday.
The 54-year-old had been a firefighter for 22 years and a crew commander since July 2012.
A spokesperson said: “NIFRS is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague.
“Our sincerest sympathies are with David’s wife Geraldine, his daughters Laura and Emma, his son Andrew, and his colleagues and friends at Magherafelt Fire Station where he was based.”
The spokesperson further said that Crew Commander Brown had served the community with distinction and would be sadly missed by his colleagues across the NIFRS.
“NIFRS is providing appropriate support to David’s family and colleagues at this difficult time,” the spokesperson added.
