One hundred new jobs are being created in Antrim with the opening of a facility that makes paper straws for McDonalds.
Packaging company Huhtamaki is investing £12m over the next five years in the factory at Killybegs Business Park.
It comes after McDonalds announced the roll-out of paper straws to more than 1,300 restaurants in the UK and Ireland.
John Park from the fast food company officially opened the factory on Wednesday.
“We are proud to be doing the right thing in rolling out paper straws across our UK and Irish restaurants, and will continue to invest in making our business as environmentally sustainable as possible – this is just one step on that journey,” he said.
“Huhtamaki is a trusted partner who we have worked with for a number of years, and we’re proud to be working together to roll out paper straws, made in the UK, to our restaurants.”
