England arrest over murder outside west Belfast school

Jim Donegan was killed as he waited to pick his son up from school in west Belfast.

Police have arrested a man in England in connection with the murder of Jim Donegan in west Belfast last year.

The PSNI’s Major Investigation Team detained the 48-year-old man earlier on Thursday as part of the investigation into the fatal shooting of 43-year-old in December last year.

Mr Donegan was sitting in his car waiting to pick up his son from school on the Glen Road when he was targeted by a lone gunman.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery said the suspect is being questioned in police custody in England.

Police have previously said they believe the killing is linked to the INLA dissident republican group.
