A man has been left with serious injuries following a hammer attack in Newry that police are treating as attempted murder.
The 26-year-old victim remains in hospital for treatment following the incident at a flat in the Cleary Crescent at about 12.20am on Wednesday.
Two men – aged 17 and 29 – have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police say they were detained after fleeing the scene.
PSNI Detective Sergeant Connor said: “Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the males leaving the area at around 12.20am, is asked to contact police on 101.”
