Mick McCarthy has urged his Republic of Ireland players not enjoy their Euro 2020 draw with Denmark too long.

A late goal from Shane Duffy secured a vital point as it finished 1-1 on a bittersweet night in Copenhagen.

While happy with the result, McCarthy’s attention swiftly turned to Monday night’s Group D clash with Gibraltar.

Asked what statement the draw had sent to the rest of the group, he said: “I don’t know.

“I’m not making any statements. You write it, you make the statements. I’m just pleased we played as well as we did.

“We’ve got a game on Monday.

“I’ve just done my dad job and reminded them that while we enjoy this, we’ve got a game on Monday.”
