The secretary of state has cancelled a drinks party for MLAs at Stormont after a number of parties refused to attend.
The event, organised by the Northern Ireland Office, was due to take place on Tuesday evening, running alongside the talks process.
Karen Bradley said it would be an occasion where the 90 Assembly members could get to know each other before the restoration of Stormont.
However over the weekend Sinn Féin said they would not be going, followed by the other parties, saying it was inappropriate.
In a statement Ms Bradley has now confirmed the event was cancelled, adding that the top priority remains a successful conclusion to the talks.
