Police investigate south Belfast 'arson attack'

Fire crews determined the cause to be deliberate.

Police say it’s fortunate no-one was injured after what's being treated as an arson attack on a property in south Belfast.

The fire was reported in the Pretoria Street area at around 4.45am.

Fire crews who attended the scene determined the cause to be deliberate.

Police said: “This was a reckless act and it’s fortunate no one was injured.”

Investigations are underway and detectives are keen to speak to a man who is believed to have been seen in the area at the time.

“He is described as being in his mid to late 30s, approximately 5’9” with tanned skin, short hair and believed to have been wearing a navy tracksuit,” they said.
