Gardaí are investigating after a Northern Ireland man died following a crash at a motorcycle race in Co Westmeath.
The 34-year-old was seriously injured when his bike was involved in the collision at Walderstown.
It happened at around 11.30am on Sunday.
“He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead,” Irish police said.
The event was cancelled following the crash, and forensic teams are examining the crash site.
Gardaí went on: “Enquires are ongoing, the coroner has been notified and post-mortem examination will we arranged.
“A file will be prepared in accordance with the Coroners Act.”
