Jonathan Rea has extended his lead at the top of the World Superbike standings after winning race one at Laguna Seca.

The Northern Irishman pulled clear of Chaz Davies to take an eighth win of the season by over five seconds.

It means Rea is now 49 points ahead of main rival Alvaro Bautista, who crashed out in the early stages on Saturday.

At one stage the defending champion had been 61 points behind, but he's produced incredible consistency to make the comeback - and is yet to finish below fifth this season.
