Donegal have secured a nine-point victory over Meath in their Super 8s opener.
It finished 2-19 to 1-13 at Ballybofey on Sunday, with Patrick McBrearty scoring the opening goal to mark the occasion of his 100th inter-county appearance.
Meath proved persistent and in the second half, Michael Newman’s penalty made it 1-11 apiece.
However a well-taken goal from Oisin Gallen in the 72nd minute helped secure the win for Declan Bonner’s side, who’ll face Kerry at Croke Park next week.
Meanwhile on Saturday, last year’s beaten All-Ireland finalists Tyrone got off to a winning start in the Super 8s against Roscommon.
They prevailed by 17 points to 13, and are up against Cork next week.
