Razor blades have been left on a cycle path in Belfast, in an incident which police have condemned as “incredibly dangerous”.

They were discovered after a cyclist’s tyres were damaged in the Cregagh Road area after running over the blades on Saturday afternoon.

Police said: “Whoever was responsible could have caused serious injury or worse to anyone using the path had this not been found by a member of the public, who themselves were extremely lucky to avoid being badly hurt.”

Detectives commended the cyclist “for their vigilance in reporting this matter to police” and asked anyone with further information to come forward.
