Man released on bail after hammer attack on Dundonald home

A 40-year-old man has been released on bail following a report of an aggravated burglary in Dundonald on Saturday night.

Police say a group of masked men entered a property in the Craignish Crescent area of the Ballybeen estate.

Hammers were reportedly used to smash windows and pieces of furniture at around 9.00pm.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: "A woman was home at the time and, while physically uninjured, has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

“We have subsequently arrested a man on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit unlawful damage. He remains in police custody, assisting with enquiries.

“Our investigation is continuing and we are appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 2001 of 10/08/19.”

The man's been released on bail pending further enquiries.
