Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in County Down.
He's been named locally as Malcolm McKeown. He was 54.
The shooting is understood to have happened at a filling station in the Main Street area of Waringstown on Tuesday evening.
The street has been closed and diversions are in place.
Local DUP MLA Carla Lockhart called on anyone with information to come forward to the police.
“It is shocking at anytime for someone to be shot in the constituency but more so in somewhere like Waringstown," she said.
"It is a generally quiet village with a thriving population and I would condemn this in the strongest terms.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family caught up in this incident."
Alliance Councillor Eoin Tennyson added there was 'no place' for guns on the streets of Northern Ireland.
“This is a shocking incident and people stunned by tonight’s events,” said Councillor Tennyson.
“My sympathies go out to the loved ones of the deceased after this outrageous act of violence. If anyone has any information on this, I ask them to take it to police immediately.”
