Head coach Joe Schmidt and captain Rory Best claimed the Aviva Stadium sign-off they so craved as Ireland beat Wales in their final World Cup warm-up.

The pair will relinquish their roles after the tournament, but they will leave Dublin with the perfect result after Saturday’s 19-10 victory.

The confidence-boosting win saw tries for Rob Kearney, Tadhg Furlong and James Ryan, and also means Ireland will top the world rankings for the first time.

They will now leave for Japan ahead of their first game against Scotland on 22 September.
