Whale washed ashore at Tyrella beach

A minke whale that appears to have been caught in fishing net has washed ashore at Tyrella beach in Co Down.

Members of Newcastle Coastguard attended the scene on Monday morning.

The 27ft whale was found with what appears to be fishing gear still caught up around its tail.

Northern Ireland Environment Agency staff also attended to the scene, to take measurements and samples from the whale.
