An object found during a security alert in Antrim on Monday evening has been declared "non-suspicious" by the PSNI.
Detectives are conducting enquiries following the alert at Dublin Road.
Police had described it as an elaborate hoax, however following further tests, said it was "non-suspicious and nothing untoward".
The object was discovered at the entrance to Castle Grounds, facing Antrim PSNI station.
The area was cordoned off, roads were closed and residents had to be evacuated from their homes.
They were allowed to return to their homes on Tuesday morning.
PSNI Inspector Neil Patton said: “This alert caused considerable disruption to local residents and road users in Antrim and I would like to thank anyone affected for their patience whilst we worked to ensure their safety.”
