Tyrone through to final of McKenna Cup

Tyrone have beaten Down 2-16 to 1-10 to secure their place in the final of the Dr McKenna Cup.

Conall McCann scored early for the Red Hands as they built a commanding lead in Sunday’s match at the Athletic Grounds.

However Down came back in the second half with points from Conor Poland and Pat Harvern, before a Cory Quinn goal narrowed the gap to five points.

Tyrone responded and put the result beyond doubt with a goal from Ronan McHugh to ensure they will face Monaghan in next Saturday’s final.

Monaghan's semi-final opponents Donegal withdrew from the competition last week.
