Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing victim suffers 'life changing injuries'

A 35 year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Newry.

He will appear at Newry Magistrates Court in Monday.

Police say the victim suffered "life changing injuries" as a result of the stabbing.

The 41 year-old man was stabbed in the leg at his home on Talbot street around 10.30pm on Friday.

A 22 year old who was arrested after the attack has been released unconditionally.

The victim was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

A police spokesperson said: "This was a savage attack which has left the victim with life changing injuries, and I want to appeal to anyone who was in the Talbot Street area last night, prior to or around the time the incident was reported to us, to get in touch."
