Strabane-based sportswear firm O’Neills has had to temporarily lay off 750 staff, due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on production.
The company outlined that the decision had been taken given the cancellation of sports fixtures and the “complete cessation” of orders from sports clubs and retailers.
“This closure is unprecedented in our history and this decision has not been made lightly,” managing director Kieran Kennedy said.
A small number of staff will be retained to service existing customer requirements, but only on a temporary basis.
The suspension of operations is temporary, but it is unknown how long it may be before business can resume.
