Former Dungannon Swifts manager Harry Fay has described how he ended up collapsing after contracting coronavirus.

Fifty-seven-year-old Fay was admitted to Craigavon Area Hospital last week after developing chest pains.

He told UTV News about what he went through.

“The symptoms started with a high temperature, shivering and then progressing to a tight chest and then eventually excruciating pain in my chest which ended up with me ringing 111 and then 999 and the ambulance landed at the house,” he explained.

It’s just a very vile virus, I don’t think anybody is fully aware of what it can do, what the symptoms are, everybody seems to be different.

“It was eerie in the respect that you didn’t know what was in front of you, you didn’t know what was going on. The doctors weren’t sure because all my blood tests and everything was coming back fine.

“It culminated in me collapsing and then they finally did a swab, testing me for coronavirus. I ended up in isolation.

He added: “My message is I’m fine, we need to look out for the health service now, we need to socially stay apart, make sure that the health service gets every opportunity that they can to try and fight this virus."
